It's All In Divine Timing......

It’s All In Divine Timing……

Have you ever wondered why you hit every red light on certain days or you end up behind a school bus when it’s not a normal run? No matter what you do or how early you leave, some thing or someone seems to delay you. This in-turn can make you very angry or downright totally pissed off. You think everyone is out to get you and that they take a personal interest in making you late.

Well, let me introduce you to Divine Timing.

Quite a few years ago I was working full-time for the County that I lived in, as an office manager. There were mornings when I was heading out to work: lunch was made, coffee ready, dogs had been out, fed, and in their crates for the day, my jacket was on, I was ready to go to work. I could not, for the life of me, find my keys. When I walked in the house the night before, I needed the keys to get in; that door gave me entrance to the mudroom, where I would: kick off my shoes, take my jacket off, set the keys on the counter, grab my lunch bag, and go into the kitchen where I would start dinner, empty my lunch bag, get the coffee pot ready for the next day, and so on. The next morning was just like any other: up & out of bed, coffee, dogs outside, shower, brush my teeth, get dressed, grab my lunch, my coffee, and head out the door. Where are my keys? Now mind you I didn’t go anywhere the night before after I arrived home from work. I know I left the keys on the counter. Now they’re gone! I would look all over the mudroom: the counter, the closet, my pockets, the floor, under the bench and on and on, by now getting so pissed off at myself, the world, anyone you can imagine, for between 5-10 or even 15 minutes. Could I have used the second set? Yes, however my office keys were on that same ring that just pulled off the disappearing act. If I got to the office without my keys, I would need to go ask the plant supervisor for his set, which would start the morning off worse than it already was. WHERE ARE THOSE KEYS?

Oops, FOUND them! Where? It really doesn’t matter. Now I’m late, or at least in my mind, I’m late.

And off the hill I’d go, driving faster than I should, still aggravated, stuck behind a bloody bus, still grumpy and pissed off at the world. Wow, I really need to get a handle on this. Now those of you who know me, and what I do, I held a Spiritual Team Meeting. Guys! Please stop hiding my keys on me! All it does is aggravate me, sets the whole day off on the wrong foot, right in the beginning of the morning. If I am supposed to leave a little later, please do something else to delay me, I’m ok with whatever, just please, please don’t hide my keys any more.

A few days went by and one morning I was halfway down the hill, I couldn’t remember closing the garage door. My ex-husband would get home about five minutes before I did, if the garage door was wide open, he would’ve had a fit. That’s not something that I wanted to deal with after a long day at work. So, I would turn around, drive back up to the house, pull in the driveway, and lo and behold the garage door was shut. I’d turn around and head back down to the office. I didn’t mind going back to check on that, I kind of chuckled to myself that I was getting old and I couldn’t remember closing the darn door and the day would go on, on a good note. Other times I knew I closed the garage door, but I couldn’t remember shutting the coffee pot off, or did I put the half-and-half back in the refrigerator, did I remember to give Max his pill? All of these little thoughts that I would double check in my mind and couldn’t remember, would pull me back to the house. Ultimately, there was the delay; it was 5 or 10 minutes or maybe not even 5 minutes but it was a delay.

Now these delays could be because of anything, there may have been a deer running across the road, or a car coming up the hill around the corner too fast and it was in the wrong lane. Maybe a child that ran out in the middle of the road before the bus came, that may have gotten hit, had you been in the wrong place at the wrong time. We never know what lies ahead for us on any particular day, at any particular time, and we may not know what happened just before we drove through a certain area, but no one wants be in the wrong place at the wrong time. This is Spirits way of making sure that you are not where you shouldn’t be. When you think about it, these delay tactics are really quite ingenious. Our job is to listen to what our little voice inside says, and follow through with that. They are only doing what they know how to do to keep each one of us safe.

Once I realized that this is what my Spirit Team was doing to keep me out of trouble, I learned to appreciate it and I send them gratitude when I know there was a delay. I always arrive at the right time where I am supposed to be.

And just for the record, I haven’t lost my keys since.

In Love & Light, Lisa
